Senior MRI Radiographer

Our client is a leading Dublin Private Hospital who, due to expansion are seeking a Senior MRI Radiographer who shall report to the Radiology Services Manager. This is a 35-hour week, permanent position. The successful person shall undertake diagnostic imaging procedures as required. In the absence of the Clinical Specialist MRI Radiographer, they will undertake primary responsibility for the day to day running of the Department.


  • Ensure a high standard of patient care is maintained.
  • To take part in on-call services and extended working day as required.
  • To ensure that the three principles of radiation protection, namely justification, optimisation (ALARA) and dose constraints / limits are adhered to.
  • To be familiar with and adhere to SI No. 478 of 2002.
  • Responsibility for daily / weekly QA within the MRI Department
  • Report any malfunction of defects in equipment to the Radiology Services Manager or deputy.
  • Support the Radiology Services Manager in the implementation of initiatives aimed at improving and developing the service.
  • Comply with policies and procedures at the hospital as regards Health & Safety, Infection Control, Disposal of Waste, Sharps, Accident and Incident Reporting, Complaints Procedure, Fire Policy and Evacuation.
  • Cooperate and take part in our clients Mission Statement in dealing with patients and other clinic staff members.
  • Be familiar and comply with the Radiology Department Guidelines, Local Rules and Department Protocols.
  • Undertake, when necessary, administrative and clerical tasks to facilitate the smooth running of the department.
  • Develop operational policies, protocols and guidelines to maximise resources and to ensure systematic audit of such usage.
Management of Radiography Personnel
  • Initiate the implementation of a staff development and individual performance review and foster a high level of morale by motivation and communication.
  • Participate in the teaching, training and supervision of new staff members.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of new developments and promote awareness of these amongst colleagues.
  • Adhere to Human Resource policies as set out in our clients Employee Manual.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Self-directed with excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Proven successful people management skills along with an understanding of clinical governance.
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • BSc. in Radiography or equivalent, with a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in MRI
  • CORU registration essential
